Design Team

*** Be sure to check out our Design Team wall the next time you're in the store.  We have some terrific layouts to help you with ideas.  Our heartfelt thanks to all the talented women on our Team!!  They are Janet Covington, Lisa Edwards, Maria Hammon, Tammie Manwarren and Micah Olson.

Janet Covington – I'm so excited to be part of StampBug's Design Team!  I have been scrapbooking for about 7 years now (since my first son, Henry, was born).  I have been lucky enough to have a few things published (Memory Makers Best of the Masters 05/06 & Layout Blueprints Sketch Idea Book 2006).  I have also been guest designer for Scrapbookeronline.com (April - June 2006) and have won their All About Me Layout Contest this January.  My layouts and cards have also won a few ribbons (honorable mention to first place) at the Santa Cruz County Fair for the last couple of years.

I scrap basically about anything and everything.  Friends say I have a sort of graphic artsy style.  I am a paper addict and you will often find me in front of the BasicGrey just hours after Becky receives it!  I love anything in this craft that is trendy, bright and fun.  My inspirations are Art, Play, Words, Ali Edwards and Elsie Flannigan.  I am a Stay-at-Home mom with 2 boys who have the energy of 20 and a wonderful husband who has a very dry European sense of humor that I adore.  Recently I have joined a wonderful ATC (Artist Trading Cards) group and I am really enjoying the challenge of working on a canvas that is so small yet can be so expressive.  I am in awe of the talent that we have here locally.  I'd like to thank Becky for giving me this opportunity to show you my work.  Hope you like it!

Lisa Edwards – I'm a stay at home mother of two, with one more on the way.  I've been scrapbooking for about 8 years.  I first started scrapbooking because I have always loved to take tons of pictures but grew tired of explaining verbally to everyone the stories behind them.  So what started out as just a shoebox of supplies has grown into a jam-packed 6'x4'x1.5' cabinet, which my stuff has grown out of for a while now.  I consider my style of scrapbooking as clean and simple and is mostly concentrated around my kids.  My favorite scrapbooking supply is scrapbook paper and I can't seem to buy enough of it.  Embellishments are always nice but I think it's mostly the right paper (whether it be just solid paper or printed) with the right picture that makes a great page.

Maria Hammon – Maria lives in Gilroy and is a mom, wife, paralegal and "life artist".  Her family is Tony (husband), Sabrina (daughter) and the four-legged babies...Ali, Mickey, Foxy and Miley.  And now...in her own words:

My life involves living every day to its fullest, believing in God, being a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister of two beautiful, smart young women and a friend of many wonderful, insightful and wise people.  One of my life mottos is to take the time to celebrate life and the people I love.  This is why scrapbooking has become such an important part of who I am today.

Scrapbooking and photography are certainly two of my greatest life passions.  I love to create album pages and other scrap related projects to keep alive the memories of my heart.  I have been scrapbooking one way or another ever since I learned how to write, but it has become more of a way of life for me ever since my daughter was born in June 1997.  Since then, I have begun a collection of sorts and have managed to create several dozens of albums.  The last time I checked, I had 52 completed albums.  I scrapbook mostly in 12x12, but have also been creating many projects for gifts in sizes 8x8, 6x6 or smaller.

I am also a never-tired-of-taking-pictures photographer.  I am so glad that scrapbooking requires the use of pictures!  This is a great way for me to use the thousands of pictures I take all the time.  I am mostly a self-taught photographer, but I have read every manual and textbook on photography that I can get my hands on and I have taken photography lessons back in the day when digital photography was non-existent.

I love to teach scrapbooking classes because it is amazing to see other people get the same feeling of happiness that I get whenever I use paper and pictures.  It is such a great passion to share with others!

Tammie Manwarren – I am so thrilled and honored to be asked to be a part of the first ever StampBug Design Team.  I have already started to create some projects to be displayed in the store and I am having a blast doing it.

Now, a little about me.  I started scrapbooking 4 ½ years ago and I have never looked back.  I have a wonderfully supportive husband and two great kids.  They are the main focus of my scrapping but I also love to scrap my two nieces.  I currently teach classes here at StampBug and I have been published a few times.  I have had three layouts appear in Scrapbooking and Beyond, one in Scrapbook and Cards Today, a few layouts in e-zines and I also have a card in an upcoming issue of PaperArt and a layout in the May 2007 issue of Memory Makers.

Micah Olson – I have been scrapbooking for 10 years and have taught many classes at StampBug, Scrap It in Santa Cruz and Scrappin’, Stampin’ and More when it was open in Monterey…This is where Micah’s writing ended because she hates to write about herself so I’ll tell you she was a terrific addition to the StampBug staff when she was working here.  Micah’s layouts and cards have great style and I know you’ll be pleased to be able to see her design ideas in the store again!
